College Earns Bronze Standard Through Military Program
Newberry College has been awarded the Bronze Standard through the South Carolina Military Academic Recognition Program, recognizing the College’s commitment to advancing the educational and professional success of veterans, service members and their families.
The recognition, awarded by the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, highlights South Carolina colleges, universities and technical colleges that demonstrate sustained support for service members, veterans, Reserve and National Guard members and military families as they pursue their academic and professional goals.
“Newberry College is proud to serve those who have served our country and the families who have supported them,” said Beth Hinga, vice president of Academic Affairs of Newberry College. “This recognition reflects our commitment to making a Newberry education accessible and supportive for military-affiliated students. We want every student who comes to Newberry to know they have a community invested in helping them succeed in the classroom, in their careers and beyond.”
The Military Academic Recognition Program evaluates institutions on core areas including accessible learning, financial and admissions support, dedicated veteran infrastructure, credit for military training, career and holistic support, and strategic outreach to military-affiliated students.
In its recognition letter, the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs commended Newberry for demonstrating alignment with these priorities and for its efforts to empower military-affiliated students toward academic and professional excellence.
“This recognition validates your efforts and signals to South Carolina employers and institutions that strategic, evidence-based support for military-affiliated learners yields measurable organizational and community benefits,” wrote David Rozelle, director of workforce enhancement for the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
As a Bronze Standard institution, Newberry College will receive statewide recognition through the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, including placement of the College’s name and logo on the department’s website, a recognition certificate and official recognition designation.
The honor builds on Newberry College’s commitment to providing students from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences with personalized pathways to achieve their educational goals. Through traditional, online and graduate programs, Newberry continues to expand flexible opportunities for students to earn credentials, advance professionally and prepare for what comes next.
