Victim Identified In Fatal Accident On Seibert Road
UPDATE: Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece has identified Daryl Messer, 51, of Chapin (Lexington County) as the decedent in the collision. An autopsy has been scheduled for this week. There is no evidence that Mr. Messer was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. This incident remains under investigation of the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Original story: The SC Highway Patrol is investigating at fatal collision that happened on Friday night at around 11 pm. The accident occurred on Seibert Road near Leisure Point Road, about eight miles south of Prosperity.
The driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Seibert Road, apparently driving too fast for conditions, and not wearing a seatbelt. The driver ran off the right side of the road, striking a ditch, and was ejected from the vehicle.
