Update: Alleged Shooting Incident On Jalapa Road Monday
Following is an update from The Newberry County Sheriff’s Department on the alleged shooting incident Monday, which caused a brief Alert at Whitmire Community School:
Two people began arguing on a cell phone and met on Jalapa Road near Jack Wilson Road.
At some point the cell phone was thrown out of a car at the victim.
The victim alleged that a shot was fired and the vehicle driven by the subject left going toward Whitmire Community School.
A Deputy Sheriff patrolling the area responded and found the suspect’s vehicle.
After detaining the suspect, a pistol was found. Patricia Gilliam Taylor of Whitmire was arrested and charged with Malicious Injury to Property.
An investigation continues into the alleged shooting.
