Tractor Trailer Wreck Results In Fuel Spill; Car Leaves Scene
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Pye, on Friday morning at approximately 8:30 am, as a tractor trailer was traveling southbound on US 176 near Old Newberry Highway, the driver was attempting to pass a small blue car.
The car came into the tractor trailer’s lane causing the tractor trailer to run off the left side of the road, strike several trees, and then overturn.
This resulted in a fuel spill that caused part of SC Highway 121 to be blocked for traffic for about seven hours. Emergency crews finished cleaning the area close to 3:45 pm.
After this incident happened this morning, the small blue car left the scene, and there was no contact between the tractor trailer and the car.
A passenger in the tractor trailer did sustain serious injuries.
