 In Local News

The City of Newberry’s Summer Mobile Recreation program, or RecMobile as it is more commonly known, is back again this summer, running from June 1 until July 9. The free program is hosted by the Parks, Recreation and Tourism department and will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on weekdays for ages six and up.

Each day, the RecMobile will be at a designated city park to offer games and activities for children who want to join in. This year’s summer schedule starts with a week at Grant Homes (3600 Grant Avenue) on June 1-4.

Following the first week, the schedule will be as follows: alternate Mondays – Marion Davis Park (2905 Fair Avenue) and Grant Homes beginning July 9, Tuesdays – Mollohon Park (211 Player Street), Wednesdays – Gallman Park (668 McSwain Street) and Thursdays – Gully Washer Splash Park (1786 Glenn Street Extension).

Lunch will be provided each day for participants 18 years of age and under. RecMobile participants are asked to dress to have fun in the sun and to bring a water bottle. On days spent at Gully Washer Splash Park, participants are asked to wear a swimsuit and bring a towel.
