Have you wondered what to do with those medications hanging around in your medicine cabinet? If so, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is offering a solution on April 24, 2021.

Project “Take Back” is a law enforcement effort to take unwanted and/or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal. DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) is partnering with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the tenth year of this National Take Back Initiative.

On Saturday, April 24, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring your medications for disposal to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office located at 550 Wilson Road, Newberry from 10am to 2pm.

The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked.

In addition to this initiative, the sheriff’s office also provides a drop box in the lobby that is available to the public Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
