Paving/Sealing Scam Back In Newberry

 In Local News

The driveway paving/sealing scam is apparently back in Newberry. On Wednesday morning the Newberry Sheriff’s Office received reports of persons showing up stating they have done paving for Newberry County and that they had asphalt or sealant left over, willing to sell at a discounted price.

They may even say that they paved an unnamed neighbor’s driveway in the area and could sell the product at a discounted price.

They have nice, shiny equipment that may be rented and not have an official business name or logo displayed on the trucks or equipment. ‘

The bottom line is this: the material is substandard, fake, and unreliable for a proper driveway. These individuals are only trying to get money and get out of town before law enforcement can be called. This is a SCAM and this activity should not be trusted, Remember if you feel this activity sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Do not give in and be sure to call law enforcement.

Update: Around lunchtime on Wednesday, deputies did locate the paving crew going around and soliciting to do paving work. Authorities took appropriate action and the crew has left the area.
