House Fire Claims Lives Of Two Individuals
Multiple Newberry County fire stations responded to a structure fire early morning Friday, November 14, 2025, which led to the loss of two lives.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. Newberry County 911 received reports of a house fire on Windsong Hill Drive in Newberry County. Multiple fire departments from across Newberry County were immediately dispatched. As crews arrived on the scene, they found the home more than 80% involved in fire. Despite the rapid response and coordinated efforts, the fire had already advanced significantly, making rescue operations impossible upon arrival.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece identified 44-year-old April Nicole Sutton Long and 73-year-old Leroy Seegers, both of Silverstreet, as the victims of the residential fire.
An autopsy has been requested and will be performed this week.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within minutes of the initial call. After the fire was extinguished, two individuals were found deceased inside the residence. Two additional residents of the home were not present at the time of the fire and were unharmed. There were no injuries to fire personnel.
“This is a heartbreaking incident for everyone involved,” said Silverstreet Fire Chief Michael Parker. “Our thoughts and deepest prayers go out to the family, friends, and all who are grieving this tragic loss.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Newberry County Fire officials, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina State Fire Marshals Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
