Mobile Recreation Program Is Back For Summer

The City of Newberry’s Summer Mobile Recreation program, or RecMobile as it is more commonly known, is back again this summer, running from June 2 until July 10. The free program is hosted by the Parks, Recreation and Tourism department and will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on weekdays for ages six and up.

Each day, the RecMobile will be at a designated city park to offer games and activities for children who want to join in. This year’s summer schedule starts with a week at Grant Homes (3600 Grant Avenue) on June 2-5.

Following the first week, the schedule will be as follows: Alternate Mondays – Marion Davis Park (2905 Fair Avenue) and Grant Homes (3600 Grant Avenue) beginning July 9, Tuesdays – Mollohon Park (211 Player Street), Wednesdays – Gallman Park (668 McSwain Street) and Thursdays – Gully Washer Splash Park (1786 Glenn Street Extension).

On Fridays, the parks will rotate each week for Art in the Park, hosted by the Newberry Arts Center. The Friday schedule is as follows:

  • June 13 – U.S. Marshal Israel Brooks Jr. Park (2420 Holloway Street)
  • June 20 – Marion Davis Park
  • June 27 – Mollohon Park
  • July 11 – Gallman Park
  • July 18 – Willowbrook Park (714 Crosson Street)
  • July 25 – Newberry Recreation Complex (1786 Glenn Street Extension)
