Newberry College has appointed Whitney A. Merinar as registrar, the College announced Thursday. She brings over 20 years’ experience in higher education to the post.
Merinar succeeded longtime registrar Carol Bickley, who retired after over 50 years of dedicated service.
“Carol has served Newberry College well for the last 50 years, not only as registrar, but as a mentor to students, faculty and staff alike,” said Dr. Sid Parrish, vice president for academic affairs. “We are excited to have Whitney join the Newberry family. Her dedication to academic and social success will ensure that each student receives a distinct Newberry College experience.”
Merinar comes to Newberry from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where she served as registrar since 2011. She has also served as adjunct faculty at Pennsylvania College of Technology, and as an academic advisor at Penn State University. She has served in other various capacities in higher education since 1999.
“I am excited to be a part of the Newberry College family,” said Merinar. “I envision the registrar’s office as being a key player in improving the student experience while providing top-notch service. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this vital position.”
Merinar holds an Education Specialist degree from The George Washington University, a master’s in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, and a bachelor’s in early elementary education from Armstrong Atlantic State University.
