Homicide Suspect Arrested Later Saturday Morning
Newberry Police Chief Kevin Goodman announces the arrest of 25-year-old
Demars Unique Tyreke Randolph Jr. of Columbia, in connection with the homicide that occurred in Bethlehem Garden Apartment Complex in the City of Newberry Saturday, March 14.
Randolph was taken into custody by the Newberry City Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division around 9:19 a.m. this morning, without incident.
Randolph is currently in the Newberry County Detention Center awaiting his charges.
Officers with the Newberry Police Department responded to a stabbing call in the Bethlehem Gardens Apartment Complex on Vincent Street, in the City of Newberry around 1:14 a.m. Once on scene, officers found a female victim with an apparent stab wound to the upper body. The victim was transported by Newberry County EMS but later succumbed to her injuries.
Goodman shared that this was an isolated incident and credited the investigators from the Newberry Police Department, NCSO, SLED, and SCHP for their hard work in this case. “They worked tirelessly throughout the early morning hours to bring this terrible situation to a peaceful end,” he said.
