Governor Issues Be At Work Or Stay At Home Order

No new case diagnosed in Newberry County in the past 24 hours from 1100am this morning. There were 183 new cases in SC today. Testing still is not consistent and many test results from private labs are often delayed. Case counts are likely higher.

• The Governor has issued a new Executive Order for people to either be at work or be home effective Tuesday at 5:00pm. More to follow once Governor McMaster’s order is published. If not working, one should only be out to obtain essential goods or services one should be at home. There will be no general socializing. Basically, if it is not necessary, then you should be at home, your home. In addition, stores will limit customers to five people per 1000 sq. ft. or 20% of the fire marshal’s maximum capacity, whichever is less. Voluntary distancing has not worked, and it is absolutely necessary to prevent the spread of this virus, which can be deadly especially to the chronically ill, the senior citizen, or those with suppressed immune systems. • Effective 5pm today, many retail outlets will close that are not associated with essential services such as food, medicines, home improvement/hardware store. Go to www.scemd.org for full details.

• We are told this week and the following will be the most critical in the attempt to prevent the infection by this virus. Cooperation is needed and required.

• There is no curfew in Newberry County

• The Be at Work or Stay Home order goes in effect Tuesday at 5:00pm.
