Newberry County Coroner’s Office along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a single car motor vehicle collision involving a motor home. The collision occurred in the early evening hours of Thursday at mile marker 66 west bound on Interstate 26 in Newberry County.

Coroner Laura Kneece has identified Clarissa Schmidt, 52 years of age, of Beech Island, South Carolina, as the passenger in the motor home.

An autopsy was performed on August 9, 2019, Mrs. Schmidt died of blunt force head trauma.

This incident remains under investigation of Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
