Fatal Collision On Friday Morning
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating a fatal collision that happened early Friday morning (May 10) at around 4:45 am in Newberry County.
According to SCHP Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, this collision occurred on US Highway 176, about a tenth of a mile east of Whitmire.
The driver of a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on US Highway 176, as the driver of a 2002 Dodge SUV was turning south onto US Highway 176 from Church Street. The motorcycle attempted on to Church Street, striking the SUV.
This driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
