Coroner Identifies Those In Sunday Incidents
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece has identified James Pratt Schumpert, 87, of Newberry, as the passenger who died in a two car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of C.R. Koon Highway and Shrine Club Road. The incident happened on Sunday morning, and other occupants involved in the collision were transported to areas hospitals for medical treatment.
Kneece has also identified Michael Stuart Reid, 39, of  Pomaria, as the pedestrian who died when struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of State Park Road near Ralph Williams Road, in the Prosperity area of Newberry County. This incident occurred at around 6 pm on Sunday evening.
Autopsies have been requested for both and are being performed this week.
These incidents remain under investigation through Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
