City Utilities Plans Temporary Road Closure
The City of Newberry Utilities Department will begin a reconductoring and pole change out project on their electric system along Wilson Road from Kinard Street to Johnstone Street beginning Monday, August 12.
“This will allow a greater electric-current-carrying capacity,” said Tim Baker, utility director.”
Work will primarily be conducted between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. in which the right eastbound lane of Wilson Road (Highway 76) may be temporarily closed at times. The left eastbound lane is expected to remain open to traffic. The work period is expected to last approximately 12 weeks. Baker said no outages are expected to occur as a result of this work.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as the work is necessary to continue to provide reliable service to customers and to provide redundancy in this area,” Baker said.
