Body Recovered From Dreher Island Waters
As we reported, at around 10:30 Tuesday morning, Newberry County 9-1-1 received a call about someone floating in the water near Dreher Island State Park.
Newberry County Emergency Services, SCPRT Rangers, and Newberry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded. A body was recovered from the water and taken to shore where life saving measures were unsuccessful.
The Newberry County Coroner’s Office was called, and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office found a unoccupied boat nearby. The Coroner will investigate and determine the cause of death, assisted by the Sheriff’s Office.
It was determined the victim was a guest of the park. The Coroner will release the identity once formal notifications are made.
