Newberry College has appointed Thomas Ard as director of financial aid, beginning with the 2019-2020 academic year.
“It is an honor to return to Newberry to serve students and their families,” Ard said. “Our financial aid department plays a critical role in how students pay for college, and this includes everything from institutional scholarships, to grants and student borrowing, to our loan repayment promise. I am excited and humbled to take the lead.”
Ard returns to the Newberry staff after serving as associate director of financial aid at North Greenville University. Before this, he served Newberry as scholarship coordinator before becoming assistant director of financial aid in 2017.
Ard has served in similar roles at Greenville Technical College and Virginia College, and as a student services program coordinator in Clemson University’s accounting office.
“Thomas knows the ins and outs of higher education financial aid, and having previously served Newberry, he is well-acquainted with not only our processes, but most importantly with our people and our mission,” said Christopher Harris, dean of enrollment management.
Ard holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Clemson University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Presbyterian College.
