Two people were arrested after a chase led to drugs and two guns being taken, including one capable of going through most bulletproof vests, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office said.

Xavious Robinson, 32, was charged with failure to stop for blue lights, expired vehicle license, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a weapon by a person convicted of a crime of violence, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, trafficking cocaine, and trafficking methamphetamine.

Mya Johnson, 27, was charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking cocaine, and trafficking methamphetamine.

Deputies investigating in Prosperity tried to stop a vehicle displaying an expired license tag.

Officials said the driver did not stop, accelerated, and tried to elude deputies.

Deputies stopped the vehicle on CR Koon Highway near Bachman Chapel Road in the Prosperity area of Newberry County.

Robinson and Johnson, both of Newberry, were identified as the people in the vehicle.

Deputies found what authorities said was a substantial amount of high-grade marijuana, trafficking amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine, along with two firearms, during a subsequent search.

One of the guns was a “cop killer” gun capable of penetrating most bullet-resistant vests, the sheriff’s office said.

Foster said the incident shows the dangers law enforcement officers face while protecting the public and complimented the deputies for their actions.
