School District Celebrates Class Of 2026 Achievements

The School District of Newberry County proudly celebrates the accomplishments of the Class of 2026, recognizing graduates for their academic achievement, college readiness, workforce preparation, and military service.
A total of 432 students graduated across the district, including 158 graduates from Mid-Carolina High School, 192 graduates from Newberry High School, 40 graduates from Whitmire Community School, and 42 graduates from Adult Education programs. In addition, 37 students completed the Piedmont Technical College Middle College program.
The district also celebrated 242 Newberry County Career Center program completers who earned more than 785 industry certifications, preparing students for high-demand careers and continued workforce success.
The Class of 2026 earned numerous academic honors and scholarship opportunities. Districtwide, 26 students graduated with honors, 12 students earned the prestigious South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, 230 students qualified for the LIFE Scholarship, and 220 students qualified for the HOPE Scholarship.
Graduates received 382 college acceptances representing 72 different colleges, universities, technical colleges, and specialized schools across the country. Collectively, students were offered $4,983,478 in scholarships.
In addition to academic success, 17 graduates committed to military service, enlisting in branches including the Air Force, Army, Army National Guard, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy.
“We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and the many pathways our graduates are pursuing,” said Superintendent Dr. Chan Anderson.  “Their accomplishments reflect years of hard work, support from families and educators, and a commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Our Class of 2026 graduates are Newberry Ready!”
