Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster announces the capture of fugitive Landon Major Howell, 20, of Newberry.

Howell was arrested by Deputies from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and Newberry County Sheriff’s Office in Laurens County. Howell is a suspect in and wanted for a series of burglaries along the Kendall Road corridor just outside of the City of Newberry.

Howell fled from store owners and Deputies on the early morning hours of March 23. Sheriff Foster says that it appears Howell had received aid in his escape from law enforcement and while hiding. Sheriff Foster said those responsible will also face charges.

In addition, Howell was out on bond for other charges and the Sheriff’s Office will ask the courts to have those bonds revoked.

Howell is being held at the Newberry County Detention for two counts of Burglaries 2nd (violent), and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
