The Clinton Police Department released arrest warrants on Saturday in connection with the death of MyAngel Walker.
According to warrants, on December 11, 19-year-old Malachi Pressley shot Walker with a firearm between 10pm and 11pm. The incident occurred at 1503 Gary Street in Clinton. The arrest warrant charges Pressley with murder.
A second warrant for Pressley charges him with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
A warrant for 19-year-old Taylor Shutrell Kinard charges her with accessory after the fact to murder. According to the warrant, Kinard “did render assistance to Pressley by aiding in the disposal of Walker’s body.”
Pressley and Kinard were denied bond on Saturday morning.
The following is a statement by Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison released on Friday:
“The Clinton Police Department has charged Malachi Pressley, 19, address undetermined, with the Murder of MyAngel Walker, 18. On December 12, 2024, family members of MyAngel Walker reported her missing to the Laurens Police Department. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Walker was last seen in Clinton. A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Clinton Police Department and the Laurens Police Department.
As the investigation advanced, it extended into Newberry County and Greenwood County, with additional assistance from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office (Sheriff Lee Foster attended the news conference in Clinton), Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). What started as a missing person case has now, tragically, turned into a homicide investigation. Officers, investigators, and agents worked diligently together to solve this case and bring justice for MyAngel Walker.
Pressley has been arrested and charged today December 13, 2024, with the murder of MyAngel Walker. Pressley was charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Additionally, Taylor Kinard, 19, (no address listed) has been arrested and charged as an Accessory After the Fact in connection with this case. Both suspects are currently being held at the Johnson Detention Center. A bond hearing is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 20024, at 9 a.m.
