Oktoberfest Moved To October 19
After consulting with city staff, vendors and stakeholders involved with Oktoberfest, the event will be rescheduled to Saturday, October 19. In light of the ongoing cleanup throughout our community and the demand on city resources, it has become apparent that this is the best course of action.
The event will remain at its previously scheduled time of 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
“We love having visitors from our neighboring communities come to Newberry for this event,” said City Manager Jason Taylor. “However, we want to be considerate of what our community as well as surrounding regions are still facing.”
Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Collin Shealy said that city staff continues to be diligent in restoring our beautiful community and recognizes that public safety is of utmost importance when making this decision.
“We understand the importance of this event to our community, downtown merchants, restaurants, bars and visitors and we want to ensure that we’re able to safely provide the quality of event that they’ve come to expect,” Shealy said.
