Whitten Center Caretaker Charged With Abuse, Exploitation

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Demario Rakeem Henderson, 34, of Decatur, GA with two counts of Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult, and two counts of Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult last Tuesday, July 9.
According to arrest warrants, Henderson “did cause and require the victim, a resident of Whitten Center, to engage in the activity of having an explicit photo taken, which was against the reasonable and rational wishes of the victim.”
Between the dates of May 1 and July 23, 2023, Henderson allegedly recorded the victim as he was intimidating the victim and caused them to cower on their bed, said arrest warrants.
Henderson was one of the victim’s direct caretakers.
Henderson was booked at the Laurens County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 8th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
