Due to a recent increase in car break-ins in the city, Newberry Police Chief Kevin Goodman asks all residents to mindful of simple practices that could help with lowering those opportunities:

1. Lock your car at home, work, and out shopping

2. Take valuables, phones, wallets, purses, electronics, etc. with you

3. Do not leave guns, ammunition, magazines or any weapons in your car  (Your car is not a gun safe)

4. Call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity
