Newberry County Coroner’s Office along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a collision involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 3:15 pm on SC Highway 391 in Newberry County.

Coroner Laura Kneece has identified the operator of the motorcycle as Mr. Elwood “Woody” Duernberger, 75, from Columbia. An autopsy was performed this morning, October 17.  Mr. Duerenburger died of blunt force trauma and he was not wearing a helmet.

This incident remains under investigation of Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
