Three people were shot at an early morning incident in the Helena Section of Newberry County.

At approximately 2:40 am on Sunday morning, Newberry County 911 received several calls about shots being fired on Brown Chapel Circle.

Telecommunicators were able to glean there were victims of the gun shots. Arriving Deputies were able to determine there were two people on the scene which had been wounded in the lower torso and another victim had been transported by a privately owned vehicle. That vehicle showed up at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Emergency Department with multiple gunshot wounds.

A deputy applied a tourniquet to one victim as Newberry County EMS and emergency crews were responding to the scene.

Newberry County EMS transported one victim to the helipad at Little Mountain Fire/Rescue, one victim was transported by ambulance, and one was medevaced from the hospital.

At this time, there are no updates on the victims’ conditions.

The investigating Deputies found little cooperation or witnesses at the scene. According to Sheriff Foster, “this was a large crowd and there are people that obviously saw it occur. We are at hopes that those witnesses fled the scene due to the shots fired and the violence and will come forward. We cannot stop these senseless acts of violence and mass shootings without the help of citizens.”
