Suspect In Attempted Whitmire Auto Theft Now In Custody
A suspect is now in custody after the Newberry Sheriff’s Office had sought the public’s assistance earlier.
This individual is thought to have been involved in an attempted auto theft on Veteran’s Lane in Whitmire.
The individual is thought to have accessed the property and used a cloned key fob in an attempt to drive the vehicle off the premises. Although detained by the property owner, the suspect fled the scene.
Although witnesses reported that the suspect was picked up on an adjacent street, the individual is now in custody.
