Suber Announces Retirement As Education Superintendent

Newberry County School District Superintendent, Jim Suber Jr., has announced this week that he will retire effective July 1, 2021. Suber informed the Newberry County School Board of his upcoming retirement at their meeting on Monday.

Ove the course of his 41 years in the district, he has served as coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.

Suber has served as Superintendent of Newberry County since 2016, after former Superintendent, Bennie Bennett, was tragically killed in a wreck in April 2016.
