Single-Vehicle Collision Claims Life Of Easley Man
A one-vehicle collision in Newberry County on Friday evening resulted in a fatality.
The driver of a 1997 Ford pickup truck was traveling north on Old Whitmire Highway (about 4 miles north of Newberry) Friday evening, veering off the right side of the road, and back off the left side, hitting some trees.
Coroner Laura Kneece has identified Joel Lackey, 89, of Easley as the decedent in the collision. An autopsy has been scheduled for this week.
This incident remains under investigation of the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
