The Newberry County School Board met Monday night, and the following actions resulted with these agenda items:
• The Board approved first reading for Policy Changes in the following areas, Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity, Tobacco-Free Workplace, Tobacco use by students, Tobacco-Free School District.
• The Board heard the Emergency Procurements for the previous year, during the year the District spent $19,854.45 in Emergency Procurement, meaning there was an immediate need.
• The Board heard the Minority Business Report for the last six months, during that time the District spent 4 percent in expenditures to Minority Businesses registered with the state.
The Board also heard that the Schools, Board and the District received accreditation. In addition, the Board received an update on construction from around the District, including the Newberry High School track, the Mid-Carolina Middle School roof, and the future home of Adult Education on Kendall Road.
