The Newberry Police Department announces the arrest of Christopher Kentrell Gallman.

The city’s narcotics officer began an investigation of Gallman in October of 2024, when the Newberry County Coroner’s Office contacted him in reference to a suspicious overdose death that occurred in the city limits of Newberry. Toxicology reports confirmed that the victim did pass away from a fentanyl overdose. The victim’s belongings were turned over to law enforcement and probable cause was established that linked Gallman as being the person that provided the illegal narcotics to the victim. During the investigation, narcotics officers with the Newberry Police Department and the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office were able to conduct several controlled drug buys from Gallman using a reliable informant working for the Newberry Allied Narcotics Unit. During the controlled drug buys, federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) assisted with surveillance and investigators were able to link a residence as being a possible location for drug activity and narcotics sales. A search warrant was obtained for the residence as well as arrest warrants for Gallman.

On December 19, 2024, officers with the Newberry Police Department and Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office conducted a narcotics operation, and a search warrant was executed at the residence of 1124 Long Street in Newberry, South Carolina.
