Newberry Man Sentenced To 35 Years For Criminal Sexual Activity

A Newberry County man is headed to prison after devising a scheme to coerce victims into engaging in sexual activity, which was carried out over the course of several months, according to the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Trevor Grant Oty, 22, of Newberry County, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of first-degree criminal solicitation of a minor.

He was sentenced to thirty-five years in prison.

Oty will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

This case was investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
