Victims Identified In Multiple Car Collision On Monday Night
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece has identified Pedro Gutierrez, 21, of Gaston, and Michael J. Oneill, 75, of Charlotte, as the victims who died in a multi-vehicle motor vehicle collision that happened on Monday night.
The collision took place at around mile marker 67 on I-26 in the Jalapa area of Newberry County.
An autopsy has been requested for both decedents and will be performed this week.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Corporal David Jones, these two fatalities occurred on Monday night at around 11 pm.
Three vehicles were traveling eastbound when a 2021 Chevy van hit a 2006 Ford van. The Ford van spun around, striking a 2021 Nissan sedan.
The driver of the Chevy van was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The front seat passenger in that vehicle died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford van was transported to an area hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
