Moped Driver Dies In Sunday Evening Crash

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a person driving a moped in Newberry County was killed Sunday evening.

The moped was reportedly traveling east around 8:30 p.m. on US Highway 76 near Colony Church Road when it was hit from behind by a 2010 Honda Sedan. This caused the driver to fall into the road.

South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the moped driver died at the scene. The driver of the Honda was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.

On Sunday evening, a traffic accident with injuries closed CR Koon Highway (US 76) at Colony Church Road.

Emergency Service personnel were on the scene, and traffic was to be impeded for a few hours as investigation and clean up took place.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Travelers were advised to avoid the area.
