Coroner Identifies Two Victims In Saturday Collision
The Newberry County Coroner’s Office, along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, are investigating a motorcycle collision that occurred shortly after noon on Saturday, October 16.
The call was received by 911 Communications at approximately 12:11 pm. The collision occurred on I-26 eastbound at the 83-mile marker in the Prosperity area of Newberry County.
Coroner Laura Kneece has identified Barry Alfred Kohl, 46, and Shelly Leigh Kohl, 46, both of Fountain Inn, as the decedents in the collision. An autopsy has been scheduled for this week. There is no evidence that both the driver and passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
This incident remains under investigation of the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
