Burglary Suspect Being Detained; Another Is At-Large

A person of interest is being detained from the early morning pursuit of a suspect from a burglary in Chapin, an attempted burglary in Little Mountain, and an auto theft in Prosperity (see original story below).

Another suspect is believed to be at large and may have been picked up by someone.

Investigators from Newberry and Lexington Counties and well as SLED will continue to investigate these series of crimes. The second suspect described as a person of thin build with a dark hoodie is believed to no longer be in the area.

A burglary suspect from Chapin is being pursued in Little Mountain. The subject was spotted near Wilson’s II on Main Street in Little Mountain by a Newberry County Deputy and the suspect fled on foot toward Little Mountain School. Subject was in a truck that was determined to have been stolen from Lake Murray Utilities in Prosperity. Sheriff’s Office and SLED Bloodhounds are working in area. Subject is described as a tall, thin male wearing a dark colored hoodie. Subject is not believed to be from area. Keys should be removed from vehicles and locked. Report suspicious activity or information to 911.
