Spartanburg Pursuit Ends Near Newberry County
At approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday night, Newberry County law enforcement received notification that a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office vehicle had been commandeered by a suspect, and that it was traveling down I-26 towards Newberry County.
Spartanburg County had initiated a pursuit to stop the vehicle, and Clinton City Police had deployed a tire deflation device in an effort to stop the vehicle near I-385.
The vehicle continued and eventually exited I-26 onto SC-66 (Whitmire/Joanna exit). It was apprehended by a Newberry County Deputy and a Spartanburg County Deputy.
The suspect was subsequently returned to Spartanburg County to face charges.
