 In Local News

Have you wondered what to do with those medications hanging around in your medicine cabinet? If so, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is offering a solution Saturday, April 22.

Project “Take Back” is a law enforcement effort to take unwanted and/or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal. The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) is partnering with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the 2023 National Take Back Initiative.

On Saturday, April 22, from 10am to 2pm, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Take your medications for disposal to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office located at 550 Wilson Road, Newberry, from 10am to 2pm.

In addition to this initiative, the sheriff’s office also provides a drop box in the lobby that is available to the public Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
