Fireworks Incident Being Investigated By SLED, Local Agencies

The Newberry Fire Department responded with EMS and the Newberry Police Department to an arm injury involving fireworks shortly after 4 pm on Tuesday.
Upon arrival they found a subject in the yard with bodily injuries.  They also saw a shed on fire behind the home with small explosions still occurring.
Firemen were able to begin suppression and exposure protection from a distance and they also assisted City police officers and EMS with patient care. They were eventually able to fully extinguish the fire.
The scene was turned over to the Newberry Police Department and SLED (State Law Enforcement Division).  Other units assisting on scene included members of Newberry City Utilities, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, Newberry County Rescue Squad, ATF, and State Fire.
The incident is still under investigation being led by SLED with local agencies assisting.  The scene was cleared at around 1030 pm on Tuesday night.
